This renovation transforms what was a beautiful, but minimalist one-bedroom penthouse into a more livable apartment without losing its appeal as a glowing modern space high above Greenwich Village. The completed 1200 SF two-bedroom, two-bath aerie is wrapped by 860 SF of terrace with expansive views of NYC and beyond. Each floor incorporates a continuous visual plane running north-south, which separates the core private functions from the more public living spaces. Parallel translucent panels can be manipulated to create levels of separation at the openings in these walls. Silvery wood paneled boxes contain the kitchen upstairs and a second bedroom with a thickened wall containing various media and storage requirements downstairs. The warm natural tones of the furnishings contrast nicely with the abstract neutral architectural palette. To see more of this project visit www.spgarchitects.com
